Campaigning with Emily Thornberry
I had a fantastic afternoon out campaigning with the Shadow Foreign Secretary Emily Thornberry MP this Friday. Campaign-aholic and Rutherglen Labour stalwart James Kelly MSP and Councillor Eva Murray come out too to help with the campaign.
Emily was up in Scotland for a few days visiting Danielle Rowley MP in Midlothian, debating at the Glasgow University Union and campaigning in Glasgow North West.
While I’m no stranger to campaigning, I am still getting used to being the candidate. I always find it easy to put across the Labour argument and convince people to buy into our politics and values – but I suffer from that West of Scotland aversion to talking myself up. Emily has no such qualms and I appreciated her advice about how to go about being the candidate.
I always find it inspiring to meet people like James, Eva and Emily who put themselves out there to represent their communities and bring about change.
